1/27/2024 0 Comments Stronglifts rest time![]() My left shoulder hurts (bringing back a prior injury). My left adductor muscle hurts a lot when squatting (new injury). My knees hurt all the time (new injury).I spent a lot more time at the gym than before (2-3 minute rest periods add up).I lost muscle endurance (anything more than 5 reps and I start to tire/fail right away now).I don't fit into my pants as a result of the above three factors - waistband too small, ass really snug, thigh+ass tightness makes my junk bulge obscenely.I gained a lot of fat around my belly (due to change in diet + routine).I thought that calorie intake may explain lack of gains, and I didn't want to deprive my body of calories during the hard recovery from SL5x5. I didn't change my diet except for adding a mass gainer. I followed SL strictly for 8 weeks before quitting (seems like a short time, but I'll explain why). I tried SL because I wanted to change things up (muscle habituation) and see what all the fuss on Fittit was about (albeit my long-term goal is pure aesthetics). I considered myself as moving from novice into intermediate because 1) I was no longer making gains at the rate I was before, 2) recovery seemed to take longer, and 3) some of my strength stats fell into the bottom of the "intermediate" range on. I have never been athletic (and never will be) and saw typical novice gains despite my age. I started SL after about 9 months of lifting and eating right - I was doing a 4x10 routine 6x/week and moved into a bodybuilding-style compound lift+isolation routine, all while on a lean meats+veggies caloric surplus. I hope Fittit can learn from my experience with Mehdi's StrongLifts 5x5 program.
